Each of the Walking Together diversity programs is designed to be
utilized as a community based initiative, bringing together people from many
faiths to create understanding and acceptance. A complete curriculum
has been developed for each program, including a wide variety of experiential
activities which function together to teach the Walking Together message.
Walking Together programs are led by specially trained facilitators,
who come from the local communities sponsoring the programs. These
facilitators are trained and certified by designated Walking Together
Diversity trainers.
Walking Together is an international program of the Jewish
Chautauqua Society (JCS) of the North American Federation of Jewish Brotherhoods
(NFTB), which retains the right to license
all Walking Together sites. This license entitles the site to
receive Walking Together materials.
- Walking Together: Intergenerational:
-
is a unique intergenerational approach to teaching the appreciation
of diversity. Walking Together: Intergenerational is designed
for use with Jewish, Christian, and Muslim 4th to 6th grade children and
their parents. Future modules for other religions expressions will be
completed in the near future.
-
- Walking Together: Adults:
-
is an innovative program which combines diversity education
with inter-religious acceptance and understanding. Walking
Together: Adults is ideal both to build bridges of understanding
between communities, and to provide diversity training for professionals
within the community, e.g., social workers, teachers, clergy, or medical
professionals.
- Walking Together: Teens:
-
- can be used in many settings to enable teens to appreciate the diversity
found within our communities. This program can be used in both formal
and informal educational settings, and is ideal for use with teen youth
groups (connected or unconnected to religious organizations).
-
- Walking Together:
Facilitator Training
-
- All Walking Together programs are led by specially trained local
facilitators. These facilitators must complete a two or three day
special training led by special trainer provided by JCS or Walking
Together Canada.
